Jeniferever - Choose A Bright Morning
Dreamy, atmospheric, floaty, absorbing, insert a few more enticing words here and you’ll have summed up Jeniferever. Like Deep Elm’s roster back in the hey day of The Appleseed Cast and alike Jeniferever from Sweden create broad sweeping songs of grandeur and depth that envelope the listener into the band and refuses to let them leave.
“Swimming Eyes” is bolstered by some soothing female vocals and blended with the use of very organic instruments and a sound that is nothing but massive the soundscapes they create are thoroughly enjoyable. I suppose you could call them pop-post-rock as whilst the twinkling guitars set to delay and the rolling drums may remind you of the Mogwai type bands out there the lulling vocals and dense melodies are anything but obscure and mishapen.
For instance the beginning of “Alvik” is a post-rock haven and then the vocals take centre stage and it takes the more American Football route. Soft brass is where it’s at, and they do it with style.
Jeniferever I suspect will never get the attention they deserve. Maybe it’s because they’re not The Jeniferever, or they don’t play janggly indie that the NME will lap up, I’m not sure. Regardless they are excessively relaxing, perfect music to chill to and ever so beautiful.
